Welcome to Kindergarten!

My name is Melinda Douma, and I am one of five kindergarten teachers at Crocker Elementary.  It is a pleasure and an honor to be working with one of the finest groups of students, parents, and educators that Ankeny has!

I would like to take the opportunity to share with you a bit about my education. My undergraduate work began at the University of Northern Iowa, and I graduated from Northwestern College with a double major in Elementary Education and Special Education. I completed my Masters Degree in Teaching at Morningside College with an emphasis on Special Education and Talented and Gifted Education. Since then, I have attained the Early Childhood Endorsement. 

I consider myself extremely lucky to have a career that I am so passionate about! It is very rewarding to teach at this level. I have a true commitment to education, and I enjoy the challenges, and the newness of each day. 

Your questions are welcomed and your commitment and involvement in education is applauded.  Therefore, I have an open-door policy in my kindergarten classroom and look forward to our time working together.
